Hi, I’m Michael Milnes. This is my blog about law, innovation, management and improving the way legal services are delivered.

I originally started this blog as a place to bring together articles I’ve written over the years. It’s also a space to develop and share ideas on topics that I find interesting or useful.

About me

I’m a commercial lawyer, based in Sydney, Australia. I’ve spent my career working in Australia, UK and Europe, as a senior in-house counsel and at leading law firms. I’ve also worked in the world of legal innovation, led a team of experienced lawyers, and managed the delivery of major projects and business improvement initiatives.

The articles in my blog also draw on my experience using methods and practices such as agile, lean six sigma, design thinking and data analytics to improve legal service delivery.

Legal innovation

During my career, I’ve always been interested in the law and how legal services might be better delivered.

This led me to study for an MBA and to implement some of those lessons as an in-house lawyer. I also started writing about legal tech and innovation, and sat on the NSW Law Society’s Legal Technology Committee.

Later I worked at a global legaltech vendor, delivering projects and leading an experienced legal team. I also consulted to companies and in-house legal teams, advising them on legal operations and innovation.
